How We Train

You will receive around 30 hours of on-snow coaching per week. We spend time ensuring that each course is planned to maximize your professional development, giving you the best possible chance of passing your exams. Training will be varied to give you a well-rounded approach. The bulk of the training will be technical on-piste training to ensure you are up to scratch for your exams.

However, we will also be offering training in a number of other areas from specialist freestyle sessions, GS race training in gates, teaching scenarios, and off-piste training. There is also video feedback, off-snow lectures, weekly fitness sessions, language lessons, and much more! Click on one of our specific courses to see exactly what is included in each one.

All of your training is delivered by BASI Trainers. This means that you will receive the highest possible level of training. Our coaches are also experts in other areas, with degrees in subjects such as Psychology, Education or Personal Training qualifications.

Teaching Opportunities

You will be provided with the opportunity to interview to teach for Connect Snowsports Ski and Snowboard School. Upon successful interview, you will be able to teach with over the Peak weeks. Teaching can range from between 4 – 10 weeks of work, depending on your schedule and ski school requirements. We understand that this is a deal breaker for some instructors, so we will work hard with you, making recommendations, sharing contacts, and reviewing your CV and application, to ensure that you secure employment.

By joining the team here in Zermatt you are able to teach, train and take exams all in the same resort. You are able to work as you train, gaining the valuable experience required to help mold you into a well-rounded, successful ski instructor.

You will be mentored through your own individual development and action plan. In addition to this, you will be surrounded by professional instructor who are pushing each other on and encouraging each other, many of whom have recently been through the ISIA exams.

If you do not have an EU passport, you might not be able to obtain a working permit - we will discuss this with you at length in advance. If this is the case, then you will only be eligible to remain in Switzerland for 90 days and you would not be able to gain employment as a ski instructor. If you have an EU passport then you would be eligible to remain in Zermatt for the full winter, and you would also be granted a work permit to teach in the peak weeks.
